Since the recent news about the “killer” Africanized honey bees has spread around, people are starting to get worried about their safety and are exterminating any kind of bees they seem around their house. Most of the people are not familiar with the type of bees and have no idea how to deal with them so they call for professional help. This is the time where a professional bee exterminator steps in. A bee exterminator is usually an individual who has enough knowledge about bees and tries his best to solve the problem of the person in need of help as efficiently as possible. A bee exterminator must be familiar with the type of bees as there are different types of bees and every species need to be dealt accordingly. The common types of bees are the simple bee, the honey bee, the carpenter bee, the bumble bee and the Africanized honey bee.
Firstly, a bee exterminator must see whether it is necessary to kill the bees or not. The person with the problem might have called him just because he saw some bees in his backyard and got scared. It is usually just some bees that have come in search of food. But if this is not the case then the bee exterminator must find the location of the bees and see to it that they are completely gotten rid of. He can start by noting the behavior of the bees and finding their hive. Bees usually work at daytime and so when it is dusk, following a bee and making sure a few more bees are going at the same place can lead to their hive. Once the hive is found, it can either be removed or carefully moved to another safe location for the bees and the humans.
If the bees are ground bees, then the best way to get rid of them is to stop growing flowers in your garden and to keep the size of your grass not more than 2.5 inches. That way they wouldn’t have a reason to stay in your garden anymore and would go away themselves. The other thing is to apply barriers to nesting sites in the structure of your house. Bees can make hives inside the walls of your house so a good bee exterminator must see to it that this problem is taken care of. He should thoroughly examine the house and find all the points from which bees could enter the walls and could make a hive in there. He should spray such places with pesticides in order to kill the bees and then fill them up so that they cannot get in again.
Bee exterminator must know different ways to control or remove bees like mechanical control, biological control, and finally chemical control. Mechanical control involves killing the bees with bee traps, removing the bees from the house with a vacuum cleaner, or using a cardboard for removing a swarm of bees. Biological control involves the removal of the bee hive safely to shift them to another place, getting rid of the ground bees with a sprinkler, using almond oil to repel carpenter bees, using soap and water to kill bees, using boric acid as it is a natural bee insecticide or pyrethrins as they are another natural bee pesticide. Chemical control involves killing the bees with insecticidal dusts, using sprays, etc.
